Item Description
In 1948, General Douglas MacArthur made a bid to win the Republican nomination to be the GOP candidate for president, but stating that he would not resign from the Army to campaign for the presidency. MacArthur withdrew his name upon Thomas Dewey securing the nomination. Offered here is a 4x5.5" screen-printed painted tin license plate attachment produced in support of his campaign. Portrait shows MacArthur in military cap and shield design has "MacArthur For America - 1948" text. Design is a bit lt. as printed. Upper left and lower right corners have small flakes. VF.
