Item Description
Hispano Americana Edition. DC. Spain. 1939-1941 reprints early Superman daily newspaper strips in Spanish language. CGC issues are #1 - 4.0 VG, #2 - 1.8 Good-, #3 - 1.8 Good-, #4 - 1.8 Good-, #5 - 4.0 VG, #6 - 2.0 Good, #7 - 1.8 Good-, #8 - 1.8 Good-, #9 - 2.0 Good, #10 - 1.8 Good-, all w/white pages and Annual #1 - 4.0 VG off-white pages. Post War 1947-1948 issues #11-16 are 8.5x12.25" and not able to be encapsulated by CGC due to odd size. They are the same general condition that the 1.8 CGC issues are. All of the 1.8/2.0 issues are graded as such because the staples were removed and the same with #11-16. #11-16 have off-white pages. There are 18 total issues of this title in CGC Census and we are offering 11 of them here. This is a very unique opportunity to own this run of a very rare foreign title featuring Superman. The first issue comic is the oldest Spanish Superman item that exists and was the debut of the character in Spain. The issues feature original art covers and reprint the earliest Superman dailies that were published in America. To put things in perspective, the Spanish Civil War ended in 1939 and Spain entered into WWII in 1941 to fight with Germany against the Soviet Union. There was an economic crisis in Spain during those years so buying comic books was low on the list of priorities. Lower prints runs and few survivors of those, lead these editions to be very rare. There are lesser known quantities of issues of this whole title than Action Comics or Superman #1s in CGC Census.
