Item Description
4.25" tall. Strawberry luster accents. Produced in England around the anti-slavery movement between 1820 and 1830. A shackled African man seated on a beach w/a ship bearing the British flag in the distance. The reverse is a quotation from a poem by William Cowper. Spout has been reconstructed and there are scattered dots of missing luster along top rim. Otherwise extremely clean w/only light wear. Fine. The front transfer was adapted from a Wedgwood plaque.
