Auction 190 - Part II
Item numbers 955 through 2671 in auction 190
Item Description
1.5" tall muted silver luster embossed brass badge from 1942. Previously two reverse pin styles were known; one running horizontal and one with a wide vertical plate holding the narrow pin shaft. This is our first offered of a third style which is a narrow vertical bottom wire soldered to the badge that has a small curved segment at its center. We know of only 3 examples with this style pin. Badge has small lighter color mark on eagle's wing at right and slight loss of silver luster on raised areas. Reverse has 1/8" spot of minor corrosion on eagle's wing at same location as front mark. Overall Fine and a rare variety of badge offered only 2 months because of wartime metal restrictions.
