Item Description
Large and impressive 19" tall felt doll depicts Donald Duck (or a young Uncle Scrooge) in Scotsman attire, complete w/tartan kilt w/sporran, tartan-trimmed Glengarry bonnet and carrying felt and wooden bagpipes. Doll is unmarked but appears to have been made in Italy by Cresla (whose only markings were hanging foil tags) during the 1940s. We have offered similarly styled dolls by this company depicting Donald and Daisy Duck as Native Americans. Doll also wears tartan sash w/metal "Salzburg" crest brooch (which has some oxidation) and jacket features metal buttons. We are unsure if the bagpipes are complete, as it shows wear and felt portion of blowpipe is hanging on by a thread and blowpipe has disconnected from pipe bag, which itself hangs onto doll's body by a few threads. Doll has wire armature for posing and feet have tips poking through tips of feet. Doll has even dust soiling/aging and some scattered minor insect damage to felt, most notably to pipe bag and head feathers. Bagpipes have some paint wear to pipes. Fine overall but still impressive for display. Rare and first we've seen in our 54 years.
