Item Description
2.5x7" full ticket for World Heavyweight Champion Joey Maxim's second title defense, against Sugar Ray Robinson at Yankee Stadium. Originally scheduled for June 23, the fight was postponed to June 25 due to torrential rain. The rescheduled fight took place during a record heat wave in New York City, which led to Robinson collapsing to the canvas due to hyperthermia. Despite making it back to his corner, Robinson failed to answer the bell at the start of the 14th round and Maxim won by TKO, marking the only time Robinson was stopped during his 200 fight career. Ticket is for Lower Res. Seat in Section 16 and cost $10. Ticket has faint vertical creasing between Maxim and Robinson name at left but is o/w VF.
