Item Description
27.25x41.75" on thin paper w/"Kansas City Steam Printing Co." in lower margin. Small text at center reads "All Secret Societies And Political Organizations Are Respectfully Invited To Be Present, As This Will Be The Grandest Political Occasion Ever Held In The State Of Missouri By Colored People. Twenty Six Years Ago Four Millions Of American's Sons And Daughters Of Africa Were Liberated From The Thraldom Of American Slavery By The Emancipation Proclamation." Full gauntlet of events including "Grand Old Time Barbecue," a $25 purse "To The Band Rendering The Finest Piece Of Music," a gold watch to be awarded to "The President Of The Best Uniformed Harrison & Morton Club Present On That Day." Edge losses most notably along left edge, scattered margin tears, age toning and separations along fold lines. Good. The only example we've encountered of this outstanding campaign broadside in our 54 years.
