Item Description
19x25" overall. 15x21" image area. Paper poster matted and framed. 1896 by Gillespie Metzger and Kelley. "Protection Vs Free Trade/Our Home Defenders." Extensive contrast and compare vignettes fill this elaborate, multicolor poster. Large oval portraits of McKinley and Hobart appear in center. Above are comparisons of industry and idleness, protection and free trade, a smoking chimney vs. a smokeless chimney, etc. The upper center shows "Little Red School House." Lower portion includes lengthy but tiny text of "The Platform" along w/"Electoral Votes" and comparisons of the Republican tariff vs. the Democratic tariff. Poster is evenly age toned. Displays VF. Not examined out of frame. A terrific display poster for the 1896 Republican candidates that is rarely offered.
