Item Description
41x80.5" three-sheet poster for original release of the 1944 Republic 15-Chapter film serial which starred Dick Purcell as Captain America and Lionel Atwill as Dr. Cyrus Maldor/The Scarab. Poster was printed by the Morgan Litho Corp. of Cleveland, OH. Nice graphics include large full body image of Captain America rescuing female lead Lorna Gray from The Scarab's laboratory as large image of Atwill looms at top (repeated image of Captain America and Gray can be seen in frame at left, likely meant to represent a mirror). Poster was issued in two pieces, w/bottom third being slightly off-center as printed. Poster has horizontal and vertical folds as issued w/scattered color touch-ups along fold lines/fold crease intersections and touch-ups to margins. These touch-ups blend somewhat, and Captain America's face remains mostly unaffected. Bottom margin has 2" tear by Morgan company name. VG/Fine overall, but would mat and frame for a nice display as linen-mounted. Scarce.
