Item Description
41x79.75" three-sheet poster for the original release of the 1949 RKO Radio Pictures made by the same creative team responsible for King Kong. Produced by Merian C. Cooper (who wrote the story) and Ruth Rose (who wrote the screenplay), the film was directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack and stars Robert Armstrong, Terry Moore and Ben Johnson. Poster is dominated by image of the giant gorilla (Mighty Joe Young) saving child from burning building. Issued in two parts, poster has been folded as issued. Poster is in its original state and has not had any restoration. Moderate wear along fold lines and at fold crease intersections, which have some small splits/tears, most noticeable at center below Mighty Joe's elbow and next fold crease intersection to right of this. Both show .5" to 1" tears. .5x1.25" piece missing between the letters T and Y in "Mighty" portion of title. Upper left margin has 3/8x1.5" edge piece missing. Margins show scattered wear w/small tears/pulls/holes and upper right has .75" circular tear two small holes. VG overall.
