Item Description
1.25" no back paper or maker as is typical on many small production run real photo without dot screen buttons. This is Muchinsky book #109 and his long, extended note explains this image is likely the same or taken at the same time as on a 1935 British tobacco card. The card text states "All the World Now Awaits His Match With Braddock for the World's Heavy Weight Title". Braddock became champion earlier that year. The button states "Our Coming Champion/Joe Louis. Muchinsky also calls notice to the tight gloves Louis is wearing and notes the hand-written button inscription. Thus, he concludes:"This Is The Earliest Known Pinback Of Joe Louis." We agree. Surface in reflected light has tiny scuff and a few long scratches- but all wear is so light as to just barely show from a few inches away in bright reflected light. Condition is glossy and Exc. One known. Rare. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
