Item Description
Lot of two 10x13" issues w/308 or 328 pages. Vol. 22 #36 and Vol. 24 #6. Both are Christmas issues published in Dec. 1944 and 1945 by Esquire Inc. 1944 issue has image of "Esky" as Santa w/serviceman in sack crossing the ocean while the Statue of Liberty, portrayed by a woman in a gold gown, looks on. Varga fold-out is of seated blonde sitting under mistletoe. Includes a preview page for 1945 Esquire "Varga Girl Calendar" which features Varga Girl in a Santa suit. Back side of page features another picture of calendar. One page features 10" tear from bottom corner of spine. Issue has moderate handling wear including pinch creases to spine, creases and some color rubbing to cover. Fine. 1945 issue features cover illustration of young boy on roof of house signaling Santa and reindeer to land. Santa has pin-up girl reminiscent of art scene on bombers in WWII on side of sleigh. Issue includes preview ad for 1946 "Varga Girl Calendar" and has preview art from calendar. Also has ad for "Varga Portfolio." Fold-out is of kneeling blonde Varga Girl w/telegraph. One page is 75% clipped away. Some handling wear, creases, pinch creases at spine, 1.5" spine split at upper front. .25" hole in bottom right corner of front cover. Fine.
