Item Description
27x41" w/"Forbes/Boston" in bottom right corner. 1917. Additional text "Promotion For Any One Enlisting Apply Any Recruiting Station Or Postmaster." Illustration of a woman w/emotive eyes dressed androgynously in a Navy uniform exuding the mysterious sensuality that defined the illustrators' depictions of women on WWI propaganda posters. The images became so prolific they were termed "Christy Girls." Surface paper lifts along bottom margin w/one affecting printer's mark at bottom right. A 2.5" horizontal tear at top left, w/clear tape repair on reverse, that just extends into the background. Short margin separations, edge wear and wrinkling throughout from moderate handling. VG and will frame to VF. Colors remain strong and this poster will frame nicely.
