Item Description
8.25x10.5" stiff paper program for the May 19, 1962 Madison Square Garden event. Very limited distribution to attendees. Minor handling. Exc. Bright, clean and historic. The event became a high point in the legacies of both Marilyn Monroe and JFK. Monroe's unique rendering of Happy Birthday for JFKs 45th birthday can be seen on YouTube. The fundraiser to retire campaign debts brought politicians and Hollywood together. Other performers listed in the program include; Jack Benny, Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Fonda, Maria Callas, Peggy Lee, Peter Lawford, Bobby Darin and Diahann Carroll. Marilyn was shooting 'Something's Got To Give" in Hollywood and already missed scheduled work but she ignored her 20th Century Fox bosses and flew to New York for the event. She was fired, but later re-hired. However, the movie was not finished as she died less than three months later on Aug. 5, 1962.
