Item Description
23x35" on thin textured paper. 1960s. Graphic of three African Americans marching w/one holding an umbrella. At top right of design in small text "Stand Up For Me/Freedom Democrats" and in large text at bottom right is "MFDP." Diagonal crease at top left corner, tiny hole at right above "MFDP" text in white field and scattered light brown age/tape stains contained mostly to wide margins. VG. An attractive print that will frame nicely. A 68 person delegation was elected at the MFDP state convention and traveled to the 1964 DNC seeking to be seated in place of the regular (segregationist) Mississippi Democratic delegation who had blocked them for participating in the state's Democratic Convention. Among the notable figures associated w/the group were Fannie Lou Hamer, Victoria Gray, Annie Devine and Hazel Palmer.
