Item Description
First is a 2"square thin celluloid sheet, preceding celluloid covered pin-back buttons by six years. Likely worn with a thin rwb ribbon thru the top hole. Lightly embossed gold text offers New Year greeting with bold W.T.C.U. initials, the date of January 1, 1890 and location of "Creston, Iowa". NM. Second is 1" long miniature silvered brass replica of Carrie Nation's hatchet used in her "hatchetations" of saloons but the most interesting aspect is that rather than bearing her name, as is typical, the  handle has black incised initials "W.T.C.U" for Woman's Christian Temperance Union. Exc. Both are rare and our first seen.
