1950s tin litho toy consisting of gas station platform base 4.25x9x2.75" tall, two-door sports car is 6.25" long. Marked "KD Made In Western Germany." The car is marked "KD Sport" and includes illustrations of male driver and female passenger in the windows. Base is designed w/"Gulf" gas pump and sign reading "New No-Nox Burns Clean." Gas pump serves as the windup mechanism and has an attached crank handle as well as a spring coil attachment. This coil hooks onto the back of the car which is in turn placed on a small platform. The crank is turned and a button on the platform is then pressed causing the car to launch forward off of the base. Launching button has 1/8" hairline crack but does not affect operation. Base has small trace of tan aging where rear wheels rest, each corner of the car's roof has a .25" spot where paint has flaked off as originally produced during the crimping process and due to the thin nature of the paint itself. Toy overall retains a bright and glossy appearance, great design and action. VF.
