Item Description
6" long". Silk. The dance and reception held in Davis' honor took place on Wednesday, August 17, 1904 in Greenbrier White Sulfur Springs, WV, his home state. Davis, a coal magnate and U.S. Senator from 1871 to 1883, was 80 years old at the time of his nomination for the Vice Presidency. Davis still holds the record for oldest VP nominee from a major party. Ribbon has even age toning, some scattered creasing, and a tiny hole in the horizontal black line, just below the "N" in "Virginia" that is barely seen. Otherwise light wear and handling. Back of ribbon has text written in pencil reading "Miss Brownie Johnston". VF. Scarce.
