Item Description
10x9.5x5.5". Black lambs wool w/brass chain chin strap, crossed swords and a brocade insignia w/4" gold wool tuft. Signed "Made For Squadron A. By The Warnock Co. N.Y." w/size 7 paper label. The Hussars, as they were originally known, began as a political club of wealthy young equestrians providing service to formal events and presidential visits to the city of New York. By 1889, 53 members were serving in Puerto Rico during the Spanish American War. Accurate but replaced gold felt, VF.
