Item Description
2-3/8x3.5" to 8.5x13.5". Nine items in total. Includes: blank Anti-War Certificate; flyer promoting a mass meeting held on January 29, 1936 at the Herzl Community Center "Under The Auspices Of Northwest Side Neighborhood Council American League Against War And Fascism"; manifesto and program pamphlet w/attached application to ALAWF; six invitation cards and tickets to ALAWF events. Notable speakers listed on card include Langston Hughes and General Smedley D. Butler. Card reading "Stop The Hitler War Makers" has staining, moisture marks, and notable wear. Good. Other five cards have only light surface wear and handling, Extremely Fine to Exc. Pamphlet, certificate, and flyer have edge wear, creasing, and age toning, as well as some small tears along edges. Fine to VF. The ALAWF was founded in 1933 and linked to the CPUSA. Name of organization changed in 1937 to the American League for Peace and Democracy.
