Item Description
5.25" long. Ribbon badge worn by a "Mrs. Lewis" for a Rhode Island GOP rally in Rocky Point. At the event, Knox compared FDR to Caesar, saying, "There was a Roman emperor who established a full-blown new deal nearly 2,000 years ago...this new deal worked all right for a time but unfortunately it busted the treasury...that empire retired voluntarily. They ought to study history in Washington." Unfortunately, Knox's wit at the rally did not translate to a successful election, as he lost to Roosevelt in one of the biggest electoral defeats in modern history, losing 46 states including Rhode Island. Ribbon has two tiny 1/8" vertical splits at the bottom, otherwise only minor wear. Retains virtually all of gold application on lettering. Exc. An interesting single-day event item from Knox's unsuccessful bid for the Vice Presidency.
