9.75x19.25x1.5" deep box contains complete parts (including instructions) for Milton Bradley game No. 4842, ©1940 Superman Inc. This is the first and rarest of the early Superman board games. Lid features great illustration of Superman stopping oncoming airplane, side panels feature additional solo Superman images as well as inset action scenes. Box lid has two corner splits at left w/large edge split and aged tape repairs to other lid corners. Lid shows obvious edge wear. Box bottom has two corner splits. VG. Pair of box inserts feature full figure Superman image and are evenly aged w/creasing at corners. Fine. 18.5x18.5" gameboard features similar but different/more detailed images as the Superman Speed Game board. Surface paper has some lt. corner tip wear and top center has 2" edge crease. Fine/VF. Complete w/eight colored wood playing pieces representing "Clark Kent The Reporter/Superman Cloaks" and single die. These are housed in inner cardboard well which has some remnants of original cellophane covering. Game pieces are Exc.
