Item Description
5.5" silk ribbon. Text reads "N.Y.W.S.A./26th Annual Convention Ithaca 1894/Souvenir Of The 600,000 Petition." Susan B. Anthony, the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the NYWSA collected 600,000 signatures petitioning the New York State Constitutional Convention to revise the State constitution to strike the word "male" from the document thus enabling the right to vote. The petition did little to persuade the all-male delegates and NY women would have to wait till 1917 before they were granted voting rights. Small tape mark at the top center of the ribbon w/some even age toning. Some tiny vertical fabric pulls. Lettering remains bold. VF. An important suffrage piece.
