Item Description
3.5x7.5" w/manufacturer text "Published By John Murphy, 146 Market Street," written at bottom. A single-day event ribbon from the Young Men's National Convention held on May 4, 1840. This ribbon is from the York County, PA delegation. Image of the candidate inside a wreath being carried by an eagle w/ribbon in its beak reading "Harrison & Reform." Below the log cabin image is slogan reading "The Union Of The Whigs, For The Sake Of The Union." Areas of ribbon loss, most notably at the extreme top above "York" and at very bottom edge, as well as a few pin holes and faint scattered staining and creasing. VG. Woodcut portrait of Harrison in Gen. uniform gives this rarely offered ribbon a folksy vibe.
