Item Description
2.5x3.25x9.75" painted plaster. Statue of Bryan shows the three-time Democratic nominee in an awkward pigeon-toed stance. Pedestal below him reads "Square." A jab at his moralism and fundamentalist religious beliefs that his detractors mocked. For example, when Bryan served as Sec. of State for Wilson's administration he refused to serve alcohol at state functions on religious grounds and instead served grape juice. Handling wear most notably minor losses at extreme edges and repair on nose. Displays VF. Mike Nichols Collection.
