Item Description
This toy is modeled after the Marx Merrymakers band (see #2136). This toy is by Unique Art Mfg. Co. © 1946 United Features Syndicate Inc. Tin litho toy w/built-in key has overall size of 5x9x8" tall. Toy consists of piano unit and four separate figures that attach to it. Piano is nicely illustrated on all sides including "Ole Man Mose" depicted on back, one side has poster for "Sadie Hawkins Day" and the front features sheet music for "Turnip Time By Li'l Abner." Figures are of Abner, Daisy Mae seated in front of the piano holding baton, Pappy Yokum as drummer and Mammy Yokum on piano top. Works and all figures move when wound including Abner who dances. Toy shows very little wear w/some widely scattered tiny paint nicks and scratches. Overall appearance remains exceptionally bright and glossy. Exc.
