Item Description
3.5x5.5". Slight even age toning, otherwise only light surface wear and handling. Crisp edges. Extremely Fine. Front features and older image of the perennial Socialist presidential candidate, while the reverse is a promotion for a "Monster Concert" for political prisoners such as Debs and other outspoken Socialists and anti-war activists. The event was held on November 30, 1919 in the Ashland Auditorium in Chicago. The Jewish Socialist Singing Society and Orchestra provided the music for the occasion. This event was held less than six months before Debs famously accepted the Socialist Party nomination for the presidency while incarcerated at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary and subsequently received nearly 1,000,000 popular votes.
