Item Description
2.5x3.5". Topps 1986 Football set consists of 396 cards. The card front features a color player photo surrounded by a green border with white lines resembling a football field. His name, team and position are identified at the bottom. The reverse carries statistical data and career highlights, with the copyright line also bearing a letter (A, B, C, or D) denoting from which sheet the card was cut. The result - each card carrying one of two different letter designations - has thus created variations for each card. Subsets in the 1986 set include record breakers (#s 1-7) and league leaders (#s 225-229).
Jerry Lee Rice is an American former professional football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 22 seasons. Known primarily as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, winning three championships, he then had two shorter stints at the end of career with the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks. Nicknamed "World" because of his superb catching ability, his accomplishments and numerous records, Rice is widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, and one of the greatest players of all time. His biography on the official Pro Football Hall of Fame website names him: "the most prolific wide receiver in NFL history with staggering career totals". In 1999, The Sporting News listed Rice second behind Jim Brown on its list of "Football's 100 Greatest Players". In 2010, he was chosen by NFL Network's NFL Films production The Top 100: NFL's Greatest Players as the greatest player in NFL history. Jerry Rice was inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in 2010.
