10.25X14.5". W. Holthrop after Reinier Vinkeles life portrait, frontispiece in the 1782 Dutch translation of Adams' Novanglus. Adams used these essays (during his role after the war as something akin to ambassador) to both report on the American Revolution to the Dutch people and frame his own skills as arbiter. Trivial toning and surface soiling. Rare. Fine.
