Item Description
8.5x11" to 11.5x17". The first piece is a 16-page handout titled "The Roosevelt Record And The Negro People: A Story of Progress." It highlights the advancements made regarding race relations under the FDR Administration, highlighting African American integration into governmental positions, as well as the heroic efforts of African Americans during WWII in the various branches of the U.S. military. On the back is a jugate image of the 1944 Democratic ticket, w/text reading "Elect The Administration that Knows How To Protect The Nation...In War And Peace!" Even age toning and moderate edge wear, including chipping to the corners. VG. Second piece is a newspaper-sized handout of 16 pages produced by the "Dewey For President Interracial Committee." Front cover features a portrait of the 1948 Republican nominee above the White House. Back cover has a jugate image of Dewey and his running mate, Earl Warren. Contents highlight Dewey's record w/African Americans, highlighting integration and low unemployment under his leadership. Scattered edge tears and chipping, as well as moderate even age toning. VG. An interesting pairing focusing on the Civil Rights records of two presidential candidates of opposing parties from the 1940s.
