1.75" references bridge begun in 1896 and completed in 1903 to connect lower east side of Manhattan and section of Brooklyn, thus relieving congestion on the Brooklyn Bridge. It took 5 more years to work out the details but this button documents the beginning of elevated trains using the bridge and reads "First Train 16th 1908 10 A.M. Williamsburg Bridge." Has W&H backpaper. Exc. Displays Mint. First seen.
