Item Description
This design is the only one known to us picturing Jim Thorpe. Top is 2.25" wide brass bar pin of Indian in a canoe with initials on the side for Redman's fraternal group. Loop holds 1.75" button with W&H backpaper. 1933 date and meeting place "Carlisle, Pa." on lower edge while at center under the cello covering is 1-3/16" real photo with text "Jim Thorpe - Former Carlisle Athlete" showing him in football uniform and kicking. Only the second we know of, the first was in Hake's Collectible Pin-back Buttons as Sports #68 but sold privately years ago as this second example had been acquired as a Hake collection back-up.
