Item Description
2-5/8x5-1/2". Lacquered stogie case w/color depiction of Clay. "The American Statesman Come Every Whig, Your Influence Brings/On This Eventful Day/And Make The Western Vallies Ring/With Shouts For Henry Clay." Includes original removable insert to hold cigars. Two .25" dia. surface abrasions flanking candidate's portrait. Verso has two small areas of surface loss. The slide-out compartment has a hairline split on one side of the area where the fabric meets the cardboard. Otherwise, typical crazing of the shellacked outer surfaces. Overall VF. A charming early campaign novelty w/tremendous display presence.
