After losing his bid for a Senate seat in 1964, Bush regrouped taking aim in 1966 at the newly minted seat for the 7th District comprising the area Southwest of Houston in Harris County. Overcoming a wide polling gap against the favored Harris County District Attorney Frank Briscoe, Bush won the seat with 57% of the ballot setting him on a course that would lead to the Oval Office. Upon leaving the White House Bush retired to the district. Rare artifacts of the 41st President's first campaign victory.
