4.5x7.5. 117 pages w/beardless portrait on cover and frontispiece. Retains original buff pictorial front wrapper and missing back. Slightly dog eared w/spine chipping, minor repairs and handling wear. VG. Scarce. Often cited as the earliest Lincoln biography in pamphlet form published at a time when little was known about the future 16th President. Ernest J. Wessen stated in his Lincoln Bibliography "Everything which I have found lends support to the claim that the Wigwam Edition was indeed the 'first in the field'" and "Undoubtedly the Wigwam Edition was the most popular life issued during the campaign. To this day it retains its popularity among Lincoln collectors, and is rightfully the keystone to any collection of Lincolniana." We concur.
