Item Description
2x5" w/wood and leather case. c. 1881. President Garfield, a connoisseur of meerschaum pipes, had two pipes commissioned for the inauguration. One featuring his portrait, and another of his wife. These were met w/ rave reviews, and a presidential set was made, one for each of the first 20 presidents. Inside of case has "Garanti Sublime" logo in ornate gold lettering. Extremely detailed carved pipe of the 20th president. Case has some rubbing on leather, and overall moderate wear. Fine. Pipe has light scattered wear. Exc. An impressive 3-D artifact featuring the portrait of James A. Garfield.
