Item Description
4" w/concave metal back and brass clip on reverse. This was produced as a manufacturer sample when Bastian Bros. attempted to colorize their line. The image of the Kennedy family was hand trimmed and set against the striking green background by a designer in the legendary button producer's workshop. Pinkish stain on the right side of Caroline's portrait. A few cello separations along the back curl, most notably at 5 and 6 o'clock that detract little from display. Technically Fine, but displays well above grade. An important and rare sample button that is among few to feature the first family. A stand out even in the most advanced collections. John Hillhouse Collection.
