Item Description
28x28.25" silk. Threads Of History plate #134 on page 102. Military portrait of "Gen. W. H. Harrison" framed by a laurel wreath w/text accented by 13 stars. Canton features 12 stars encircling a large center star in a medallion pattern. The top edge has been trimmed just affecting top star. Four horizontal fabric pulls affecting center design w/none affecting portrait. Vertical separation affecting the top red stripe to right of center. Extremely Fine. This flag displays well above the average example we have encountered. The fabric pulls would be easily mitigated by a professional textile conservator and will frame beautifully. The fragile fabric combined w/the potential ravages of its nearly 180 years of life make this an impressive survivor befitting cornerstone status in all but the most advanced political textile collections. Harrison flags are the earliest campaign flags and portrait flags are supreme among collectors.
