Auction #182 - Part II
Item numbers 1500-3431 in auction 182
Item Description
2.5x2.5x5" tall superb example w/99% complete paint over cast white metal. Reverse has 1938 copyright. Comes w/key that will open the trap under base. We can't figure out how the lower jaw, made of wood, was once fastened so it could be opened and closed. Mouth segment is joined to seemingly original 5" black string. Inside of mouth has two openings and strip apparently went through one or both. The rear head has 1/8" opening which holds a metal stud w/small hook on the end. Apparently, string joins to this hook but for lower jaw to open and close, there must have been a rubber band or small spring to provide some tension. Whatever gave this tension is gone. String could be tied to keep lower jaw in correct position but open/close action would be restricted. Bank displays 100% complete and glossy. Mint. Rare in this condition.
