Item Description
10.5x14.75" w/78 pages in color. 1902. Earliest known Cupples & Leon Co. comic book. By R. F. Outcault, creator of Buster Brown, this publication falls between Yellow Kid and Buster Brown. Book features strips dealing w/Black Americana and is scarce in complete condition as some individuals have cut copies apart to sell individual pages. Book has obvious handling wear, spine wear, a 3.75" tear from creasing to cover at bottom spine. Scattered small moisture stains on front cover, front cover has had top right corner reattached and back cover has had top and bottom left corners reattached. Cover is Good/VG, contents remain clean and bright, for the most part VF. Scarce. Overstreet 2006 Fine = $5500.
