Item Description
Big 2-3/16" button w/Brunt back paper. Pictured is the Palace of Fine Arts building. Although undated, it is likely this button was given attendees October 16, 1915 when Phoebe Hearst and the Exposition Preservation League raised funds to save the Palace after the fair. When the fair ended, the "city within a city" was largely erased with this the only building standing in its original location. Repaired in the 1930s, reconstructed in the 1960s and recently restored, this stands as one of architect Bernard Maybeck's master achievements. Exc. One known. Rare.
