Badge on curl reads “John Bartram Jan.-1947.” This is Philadelphia area high school and button is in tradition begun in 1930s of graduating classes designing a button featuring, usually unlicensed, comic character. In this case, student artist skillfully copied image from cover of Jumbo Comics #81 from Nov. 1945. Metal back has surface rust on 30%. Front has some minor hairline scratches that catch reflected light. Only Good condition but also extremely limited issue (to class size) and only button design we know of to show this character. Rare.
