Item Description
2.5x7" on stock. Dated October 14, 1941. A few faint creases, mostly along the right edge, that detract little. Otherwise only light wear. Still Exc. Rush Holt was a Senator from West Virginia, while Gerald L. K. Smith was an anti-war activist and founder of both the Christian Nationalist Crusade and the America First Party. Smith ran for the presidency in 1944 on the America First ticket. He was a far-right political leader during the 1940s, known for his anti-Semitic and white supremacist beliefs. The event for this ticket was held under the auspices of the Committee of 1,000,000, an organization allied w/the America First Committee, which were both isolationist groups that wanted to stay out of WWII. The event was held less than two months prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, which effectively ended the America First Committee, as it was dissolved on December 11, 1941.
