Item Description
Lot of 52 from a deck of 56 cards, 2.5x3.5" from early 1870s, maker unknown. Deck includes fancy dressed Black man on pair of cards. These two cards are marked "15th Amendment" alluding to the ratification in Feb. 1870 of the Constitution to give the vote to former Black male slaves. Card deck also includes caricature cards of Chinese and Italian immigrants. Many other nice caricature illustrations including baseball player, policeman, children at play, etc. As noted in description, there are four missing cards from the deck of 56, originally 28 pairs. Cards are worn, a good number have heavy creases and/or missing corner tips. Overall Good. An interesting piece of Americana.
