Item Description
8.5x15x2" deep box holds painted tin track and tunnel w/lithographed pair of train cars as well. US Zone Germany, 1950s. Box has heavy wear including splits, tears, loose side piece, staining on lid. However, paper label, although water stained, still has great illustration of spooky scene including delapidated castle and flying bats. Good. Set consists of four circular pieces of track plus one straight piece and one larger piece w/two halves of a tin tunnel that fold together. This also acts as a switcher as one car would enter and the other car would come out. Track has moderate paint nicks, scratches from use. Fine. Pair of working windup tin litho cars have fantastic bizarre lithographing corresponding to the lid illustration. This includes dragons, goblins, witches, screaming people, sleeping train operator, ravens, etc. Cars have a few scattered paint nicks, one has rubs along roof line on either end and on top. Fine to VF. An interesting set, probably w/very limited production. Truly great graphics, first we've seen.
