Item Description
19.5x27" half sheet poster. "1936" in pencil top left margin. Al. G. Barnes was the first show that Mabel Stark ever worked with, beginning as a horseback rider. She was trained by (and briefly married to) Louis Roth, a Hungarian immigrant who introduced to the United States a more human style of animal training employing food rewards and positive reinforcement over whips and other violence to coerce animals. Stark built a storied six decade career working with Big Cats, captured in two films including as Mae West's stunt double in 1933's I'm No Angel. Scarce, early poster from an important career. Significant old tape repairs on reverse have caused foxing to face w/vertical margins are stabilized. VG. Fred Hoffman Collection.
