Item Description
Although box is missing its lid, this is the only example we have seen for this 1934 radio. Upper edge of box has some small missing flakes of paper, couple of small tears but all this is largely limited to the top 1" of the carton and mostly confined to one of the four panels. Interior of carton does have its generic cardboard liner. White areas of the design are noticeably tanned and underside has name of apparent original owner w/his address in Mass. Overall what remains is very sturdy and VG. Rare. The only box we've ever offered in any condition. Radio is 5.5x7.5x7.5" tall. Tubes are visible through the slots in the wooden back but condition of mechanism is unknown and the electrical cord has frayed so we are offering radio as not working and for display only. The top of the wooden case has four circular spots and a corner area missing paint w/about 80% remaining. The four sides of the radio have about 97% paint. There is small paint loss and rounding of the molding at the bottom extreme left and right corners. Case back has two of four screws. The underside is missing most of the four rubber foot pads but their anchor pins remain in place. Radio has both original knobs w/just a small hairline on the front of the volume control and a slightly larger hairline on its side edge where a tiny screw holds it to the mounting pin. Of most importance are the seven metal accents on the front of the radio. Characters pictured are Pluto, Horace, Clarabelle, Minnie who is missing just one generic nail. At the radio center is a beautiful diecut colored aluminum image of Mickey. This is backed by a very attractive speaker cover. Both the fabric covering and the Mickey image are Exc. Radio is also complete w/aluminum Emerson serial number plate on the reverse, often missing. Overall radio is Fine but w/visually important pieces on the front panel are Exc.
