Item Description
13x15.5" framed w/7x9.5" opening. Newsprint. c. 1838-1839, from the early efforts leading up to the 1840 campaign when it was believed that Henry Clay would face off against Van Buren. William Henry Harrison ultimately got the Whig nomination and defeated Van Buren in 1840. Features soaring eagle motif w/banner in its beak reading "Martin Van Buren." Text at top reads "Bank Reform-Finish The Work" w/anti-Henry Clay and National Bank rhetoric below. Faint scattered stains, most notably just below the "Ma" in "Martin." Extremely Fine.
