Item Description
The Salem China Co. introduced their line of plates, bowls and mugs in 1934. Also see pair of Three Pigs warming bowls in their section of this catalogue. Although not marked, this bowl is one of their 1934 designs and includes Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and "Horse Collar" on the rim. The large 8" ceramic bowl is affixed to a chromed metal base 2" deep w/pair of hinged handles and a spout w/screw top where hot water was added to keep food warm. The metal side rim has 25% area that lost some luster but silver color remains intact. Bowl has typical craze lines in the glaze and white areas, below Mickey, have taken on a st. tan tone. Extreme upper rim of bowl next to the metal edge has two very minor hairlines, one at 1/16" and one at 1/8". Glaze retains overall full gloss and the color images are perfect. VF overall and the only example we recall seeing over 40 years of collecting these bowls for babies. Comes w/Hake's COA.
