19.75x26.5" paper map issued by Standard Oil Co. of Calif. 1939. The nationwide promotion involved Mickey and Donald leaving from N.Y. and Miami and racing across the U.S.A. to see who would be first at the Golden Gate International Exposition Treasure Island site. Small images of Mickey and Donald in various activities are depicted on each state as well as Canada. The border of the map is designated to paste on 18 pictures for each character which were to be cut from issues of Travel Tykes Weekly newspapers. The map displays Mint. It is within a black mat that has foam core backing to an overall size of 25.5x32". With the map come 11 issues, each four pages, of the weekly newspaper to be obtained from Sunoco gasoline stations. These are issues #2-13, missing #12. Some of these have a little browning plus a center fold as issued but condition is Exc. to NM. The race was announced in issue #2 and that issue shows two sample cut-out pictures. The actual race and publication of the pictures to be cut out began w/issue #3. Among the most beautiful of all premium maps and with about two-thirds of the weekly premium newspapers.
